Our Five Favorite Kitchen Tools

Want to Get Organized?

When the pandemic started, we surely didn’t anticipate that we’d still be cooking almost all of our meals at home in October. And we also didn’t know that we’d have a new appreciation for kitchen tools that make our lives easier. As it turns out, anything that increases efficiency is a win in our book!

So, in the spirit of sharing, we’ve rounded up our Five Favorite Kitchen Tools. We’d love to hear what kinds of gadgets are making your life easier in the kitchen. Drop us a comment below!

And if you need help staying on top of things, our Love Your Home Again course has all the information you need to keep your home running efficiently. We even have a specific section for the kitchen if that’s an area you’re struggling with.

1.) OXO Good Grips Pro Y-Peeler

This is truly a life changing tool! We have come to love it as all the fall vegetables have been in our weekly meal prep. Potatoes, carrots, even butternut squash are easily peeled and ready to be roasted in record time. If you’ve been struggling with an old dull peeler and it’s making you miserable, this is the perfect replacement.

2.) Spring Hill Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons

We absolutely love the convenience of these measuring spoons. Their brilliant shape means you can easily measure your favorite herbs and spices right out of the jar. No more tap, tap, tapping the oregano into the round spoon (and consequently all over the counter). Cooler temperatures mean chili is on the menu and these measuring spoons will definitely come in handy!

3.) Reusable Food Storage Bags

We’re constantly trying to reduce single use plastics in our kitchen and to minimize our carbon footprint (more on that in the coming weeks). So these reusable silicone bags were just the ticket. They’re microwave and dishwasher safe and BPA, PVC and latex free. What more could you ask for?

4.) Gas Stove Covers

After all the cooking is done and the leftovers are put away, there’s nothing worse than being left with a disastrous kitchen. If you have a gas stove, these silicone stove covers are a game changer! They are customizable to your stove (just trim around the openings to fit your burners) and they lift out with ease. A quick rinse is typically all they need for your stove to look as good as new!

5.) Silicone Sponges

Keeping with the theme of a green kitchen, these sponges fit the bill. They’re incredibly durable, long lasting and best of all, they don’t smell! We have found that they’re not great for wiping down counters (we use a dishrag for that) but for dishes, they’re brilliant. Best of all, you can pop them into the dishwasher to sanitize and it’s like they’re brand new.

Hopefully, these kitchen tools will help keep you sane until eating out is a thing again!
